WOW!!! I was attracted by the HUMOROUS tag; stayed for the humor AND SOOOO MUCH MORE!!! What a story! And what recovery! THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR EXPERIENCE, STRENGTH AND HOPE exactly the way this alcoholic needed to hear it told.
PS – I “slung hash” (waitressed) for 7 summer seasons in Ocean City, Md. (Phillip’s) and Libby’s (Fenwick Island) in the late 70s-mid 80s!! **MAY I HAVE MY COOLER BACK PLEASE???
Really enjoyed how Jack carries the message in this talk.would be good for newcomers or oldtimers
Jack C, homegroup Hagerstown, speaking at York, Pennsylvania. Delivers his story with strength and faith. Love his grasp of the alcoholic mind’s perception, and thinking, (“Simply How I Think is my problem”!). From college graduate, to Police Officer and finally Retired Court Circuit Judge his story flows with a strong message towards the end. Not drinking and not changing is the same as saying just don’t drink and go to meetings. Acknowledgement of the danger of untreated alcoholism. A very funny analogy of “They know, that you know…..” recurring! Importance of sponsorship and getting in the middle of AA, not skirting the borders. Finally, the power of the Serenity Prayer, abating fear in times of trouble, and “When God Moves… God Moves”! Recommend giving this one your ears.
Thanks for that detailed summary Sue, I listenend to it, his story is funny as all get-up, thoroughly entertaining 🙂
“I explained to Ken and Bob how I *might* have a mild case of this thing they call alcoholism…. So they would come over and we’d read the Big Book, and they would explain to me the importance of what we had read… And I would explain to them “As Jack Sees It”…
“My problem is S-H-I-T: Simply How I Think…”
Jack’s delivery is great 🙂
